At the heart of our reading policy is to establish each child as a lifetime reader. We know the positive impact reading has on children’s lives and their future successes.

First, we ensure children are equipped with age appropriate reading skills through a high-quality, focused synthetic phonics programme, early interventions and effective guided reading lessons.

Our aim is to nurture a love of reading from the moment children begin at our school. To achieve this we have created a culture of reading from EYFS to Y6. This has been achieved by developing an understanding of children’s reading habits, offering a wide and varied choice of reading materials, making the pupils voice heard, building a strong reading community, developing a ‘Teachers as Readers’ ethos and providing high-quality, immersive reading opportunities throughout the day.
